International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Updated: Nov 2, 2023

25th November 2023

ree

According to UN, 'Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.'

It can manifest in physical, sexual and psychological forms, including:

  • intimate partner violence

  • sexual violence and harassment (also including stalking and cyber- harassment);

  • human trafficking

  • female genital mutilation; and

  • child marriage.

The Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women issued by the UN General Assembly in 1993, defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychol

ogical harm or suffering to women.”

TODAY, we all can make a small difference in the lives of other women, focusing on preventable threats, those common in the Western countries.

HOW?

-Introducing Awareness Programs

-Launching Self-defence workshops and Programs

-Educating the younger generation of females that are the highest risk group to experience assault

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PHYSICAL PREVENTION - WHY?

A lot of females come to self-defence classes to learn how to use their body to protect themselves against physical attacks. Yet at the core of defensive mechanisms lies awareness, emotional intelligence and prevention.

WHAT EVERY WOMEN SHOULD LEARN FIRST

- Is to set boundaries

To recognise red flags and warning signs

- To understand how predators operate in order to be able to spot their behaviour

- Understand who are the perpetrators and who are the victims

- Pre-emptively building into their confidence tools to prevent attacks

- Practising de-escalation and communication skills

AN EXAMPLE

Give your employees, students, or family members the opportunity to take part in seminars and workshops which will equip them with the knowledge to understand how they could potentially become victims, and what can be done to prevent this.

ONLINE SELF-DEFENCE SEMINAR

In the next couple of months, I will be running ONLINE self-defence seminars geared at target audience (corporate, students, etc.) to give you insight into the world of violence against women - so that you can find the tools necessary to defend yourself, when needed.

DON'T WAIT AND SIGN UP TODAY!
